FYI, the Retevis website (as of yesterday) only shows a GMRS version in model RA87. A multilevel power version is nowhere to be found. The two dislikes I have so far on the RA87 GMRS : 1) The included paper manual desperately needs to be re-written. It requires much guesswork and head-scratching about what the author is trying to convey!
Anyone try this radio out yet? Retevis RA86 Looks like it may give some better options vs the Midland mxt275. Wideband and possible more channels. Looks interesting.

Just got a new NR30S in the mail today (Retevis Official / eBay); tried to connect it to my windows 10 pc using Retevis-supplied NR30S software from their website, it won't load onto my cheap PC.
The USB cable from Retevis does not say what type it is but does it need the prolific driver? Try doing an Internet search for "Retevis RT3S cable". I poked around a little bit from the results and it would appear that, like the GD-77, the cable for this radio is just a "patch cable" and the USB to serial conversion is done in the radio.
Retevis said it would take 4-5 weeks to get to me under regular shipping. I have been playing around with the software and here is what I have noticed: After extracting the files, you get 2 default files along with the program itself. One default file is for the VHF/UHF version of the radio the other is for the GMRS version
I do not use the Retevis cable and instead use an aftermarket (Mirkit universal set) cable and Chirp. Nevertheless, if I am remembering correctly, you might also need to download the Retevis Driver in addition to the Retevis Software -- offered on the Retevis Website on the RA87 page. I expect that the driver is for the cable.
Retevis supposedly told him he had a preproduction radio and the production ones should not have this issue. Well does that mean I was sent a preproduction model as well even though I bought after the release of the HD2? I just want to know how they are going to fix it.
