OpenAI is notifying some ChatGPT API customers that limited identifying information was exposed following a breach at its third-party analytics provider Mixpanel.
The exposed data included names provided on API accounts, email addresses associated with those accounts, approximate location data derived from browser information and operating system.
According to OpenAI, the breach occurred within Mixpanel’s systems and did not impact the AI startup’s infrastructure or affect users of ChatGPT and other products.
Mixpanel’s namesake analytics platform enables companies to collect data about how users interact with their applications.
